WHO WE ARE

We spend 100% of every dollar raised locally to support and expand our innovative programs, which improve the health of our residents.

May is Clean Air Month...but it also means our Clean Air Awards Luncheon is coming soon!

Every year, Breathe California holds our annual Clean Air Awards Luncheon to recognize individuals and companies that do their best to clean the air. Sacramento is ranked as one of the most polluted metropolitan areas in the country, which means our air quality isn’t that great. However, due to the efforts of these outstanding citizens and organizations, our air is improving!

The 36th Annual Clean Air Awards Luncheon will be held May 18, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Sacramento State's Ballroom at the University Union. Tickets are $40 each, or you can sponsor a table of 10 for $400. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Countdown to Ozone Season

May 1st marks the start of Sacramento's 18th Spare The Air Ozone Season. Due to recent health effects information and standards, a new lower trigger level is now in place for Spare The Air. The trigger is at 127 AQI or .086 parts per million this season. Last year, the trigger was at 150 AQI or .095 ppm. You can monitor readings and more information at www.SpareTheAir.com.

The lower trigger will result in more Spare The Air days, but the air quality has not gotten worse. The trigger only demonstrates that ozone is detrimental to our health, even at lower levels.

If you're interested in more resources, why not check out our free air quality iPhone app, iBreathe: Sacramento? Click here to download iBreathe: Sacramento to have alerts about the air level sent directly to your iPhone, iPad or iTouch. Data is provided in real time and notifications can be customized based on your location and environmental sensitivity.
